Dr.
Christina M. Lemieux was, for 33 years, professor of Anthropology at Kutztown
University of Pennsylvania where she developed the University's original
coursework in the areas of death, dying, grieving, and bereavement.
A recipient of numerous academic and teaching awards, Dr. Lemieux maintained
many professional affiliations including Phi Beta Kappa (national academic
honor society), Alpha Kappa Delta (national sociology honor society) and
Phi Sigma Iota (national romance language honor society). Dr Lemieux authored
over seventy-five professional papers and lectures and three books, including
the nationally acclaimed Coping With The Loss Of A Pet.
Christina was extensively involved in research, fieldwork, classroom instruction,
hospice training programs, educational programs for health care professionals,
and private counseling. She remained an active participant in frequent
community and media programs.
Dr. Lemieux treasured the mutual fondness and the high regard in which she was held by her students. Perhaps most of all, Christina felt especially honored that, through her book, Coping With The Loss Of A Pet, she was able to provide assistance and comfort to so many thousands of pet lovers.
